Abstract

The family planning program is one of the efforts to raise awareness and participation of the community through the maturation of marriage age, family planning is an action that helps the individual or spouse to avoid unwanted pregnancy, one family planning program is 3 month injection, the use of injectable contraception around the world that is about 4 000 000. Although it has many limitations and side effects The achievement of injectable contraception is still the main choice, the most common side effect is weight gain. Family Planning Participants (FP) is active, ie 32%, different thin with pills with a percentage of 31%. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship of mother knowledge about 3 month injection method with weight gain at Clinic Cahaya Medan Year 2019. The research design used was an analytical survey with cross sectional approach and data collection through questionnaire with a sample of 70 respondents in Clinic Cahaya Medan Year 2019. The results showed from 70 respondents who experienced weight gain as much as 56 respondents (80%). Based on chi square statistical test, p = 0,000 <0,05 means that there is a significant relationship between mother knowledge about 3 month injection method with weight gain.
