Abstract

Life Expectancy (UHH) is an important indicator, especially in the health sector in Indonesia. The increase in UHH will lead to an increase in the number of elderly people every year. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and knowledge of the elderly and the utilization of the elderly Posyandu at the Simarimbun Health Center, Pematang Siantar City in 2024. This research is an analytical study with a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study were all elderly (aged 60-74 years) at the Simarimbun Health Center in April - July 2024 with a total of 34 people. The sample in this study was obtained using accidental sampling (a population that happened to come at the time of the study) of 34 people. From the results of the analysis of Knowledge by utilizing the Elderly Posyandu using the chi square test at an error rate of 5%, it was obtained that the value of p = 0.121>α (0.05) and the results of the analysis of family support by utilizing the Elderly Posyandu using the chi square test at an error rate of 5 % obtained the result that the value of p = 0.009 < α (0.05). To the health center or elderly posyandu to improve counseling or health promotion about the benefits of the elderly posyandu inside the posyandu building or outside the posyandu building so that family members and the elderly can have information regarding the benefits of the elderly posyandu.
